No Escaping Him

by Desiree Bustamante

The road behind me, beside me and before me is forever filled with God’s presence.

“You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.
You see me when I travel
and when I rest at home.
     You know everything I do.
You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!
I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!”
Psalm 139: 2b-6 New Living Translation

As we travel through our lives, we really have no idea where we are going to be tomorrow, next month, or next year. We arise each morning and prepare for the day ahead, but we don’t know what the day may hold for us. It could bring a prayer answered or an unexpected event. Though we like to think we are in control most of the time, we really aren’t.

The words from this Psalm are so very comforting. As we place our faith in our Lord and our days in His care, we can know without any doubt that He is involved in every moment of our lives. He knows where we have been, where we are now and what we are doing, and He goes before us to pave the way for our days ahead. He places His mighty hand of blessing on us each day as we navigate His path and plan for our lives.

We are truly blessed that we can never escape Him. Our Lord’s presence is with us always. We can be assured that no matter what curves our life’s road encounters, He will be there every time, and we will arrive safely into His arms when our journey is finished.
