God doesn’t make things “nice” He makes things new.

“Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old. For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:19 New Living Translation
We know that God promised a new covenant, new life in Christ, and a new heaven and earth, where everything in it will be made new, perfect and glorious beyond measure. Yet many days hope eludes us, and we can’t imagine God’s unsurpassed, divine future. We live with sin, decay, disappointment and anger, yet those negative elements are so familiar to us, we cannot even see a new day before us. We end up living with comfortable discomfort that can seem safer than the unseen and unknown, even if all we strive for is a nice life.
But God doesn’t make things nice, patching us up and sending us on our way to fall into the same pitfalls. He makes all things new.
With His death and resurrection, Jesus destroyed the old covenant and redeemed us through His new covenant. He made it possible for us to disconnect from the bleakness of yesterday and to step into something refreshingly new. Looking at the disappointing past and the ugliness of today, we are less likely to perceive God’s “new thing” for us and more likely to only see the same old results manifesting in our lives.
Look away from the failures and disappointments of the past and look ahead to the newness God offers. You will see a new season of God’s breakthroughs awaiting you, making happen what you might have thought was impossible in your life. Allow Him to renew you in every way. His mighty power is making all things new!
And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!”
