“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and through grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope, comfort your hearts and strengthen them in every good work and word.”
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 New Revised Standard Version
Previously, I wrote that our fence blew down in a record setting windstorm. The fence was fixed, but a couple of months ago we experienced another windstorm and discovered the other side of the fence lying broken in our yard.
While fixing a fence is a minor annoyance, do you ever feel as though situations are repeatedly happening in your life and seem completely out of your control?
Maybe you are facing:
One more cancer diagnosis after you were free from it,
One more expense you weren’t expecting,
One more health issue,
One more death of a friend or relative,
One more heartbreak.
Jesus understands “one more.” Inside His earthly human self, He lived with sorrows daily:
One more temptation to face,
One more betrayal,
One more friend in pain,
One more indignity,
One more sin to bear on the cross.
Jesus experienced everything we have known on earth so we can approach Him confidently for understanding, reassurance and peace. He will always be there for you. Seek him with your entire heart. Pour out your fears and frustrations in prayer to the God of all comfort and all hope.
One more time.
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.”
2 Corinthians 1:3 New Living Translation
