Safe from the Storm

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Psalm 46:1 New International Version

On the other side of the rock jetty, the water is rough and waves roll in, threatening and treacherous.  But here there is protection, a quiet beach, a safe haven.  Here there is peace apart from the storm.

Have you been looking for peace from the storm?  A safe place to rest and let your guard down?  A place where your heart is calm and your soul is at peace?

Many people try to find peace by escaping to a less hectic, less dangerous place.  I met many people in my years in Idaho who had moved there to try to find peace for their souls.  But true rest and peace is not found by moving to less populated or more scenic areas.

True rest is found in God.  “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”  For even in the midst of the storm, Jesus is still there in the boat with you.  God is still a strong fortress into which you can run.  The Lord is still a place of quiet peace even on the most hectic days.

This is our God who loved you so much that He sent His own Son to die for you, so that you might have peace with God and peace with others.  Our God did not cast you away in your sin, but rescued you from the devil and hell, our God who knows how to lift you up in His arms and carry you when you are broken hearted, our God who protects you from all evil.

For if God is for you, who can be against you?  Our God is for you and in Him you can find true peace…. even in the midst of the storm. Amen.
