Glory!

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever increasing glory….”
II Corinthians 3:18, New International Version

The sun’s light travels farther to get to our eyes in both the morning and the evening.  Red, orange, and yellow light are the result.  The reflection of the glorious sunset can be pleasing indeed.  The Harvest Moon shines brightly with the sun’s reflected glory as well.

Paul used ‘reflection’ language to describe some significant changes in the New Testament era.  No longer do God’s people need a bag over their heads if they have been in the presence of the Lord.  Moses needed one.  We do not.  Immanuel, Christ, our ‘God with us’ God, is always present to us.  We are always present to him.  Our wondrous glory is to shine with the light of Christ.  In Christ’s words, we are the light of the world.

The Light of God’s Christ, of his Glory, does not have far to travel to reach the eyes of those around you today.  It is reflected in you, and through you.  The glory of the Lord shines into the lives of others today because you are near to them.

What colors do you reflect?  We are each unique in that regard.  We shine as God has blessed us. We shine out of the season of the Spirit in which we find ourselves. We shine out of the unique relationship that is ours with Jesus.  The Glory of God is reflected in us.

Wonders never cease in God’s grace.  The beauty of his creation fills us with wonder.  We never tire of it.  That we are the glory of his new creation fills us with wonder as well. Who am I that God should come for me, to me, and shine his glory through me?  We are the objects of his heart.  We are being transformed into his likeness more and more, to reflect his Glory.  Shine on!  Color the world with the glory of God today.
