“And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.”
Philemon 6-8 New Living Translation

Has someone ever brought you a tasty sno-cone or other icy drink on a very hot day? It’s so refreshing to feel your heat dissipate as the cold ice melts in your mouth.

Life’s events can be scorching and we break out in a soul-soaking sweat. We have no desire to face the heat of temptation, the flames of life’s trials or the fire of our enemies. We need the cool stream of strength and comfort that God gives us in His word. Words that encourage and remind us that Jesus has put out the fires we face with His very blood. Words of mercy and life and the assurance that He is with us and for us every moment of every day.

Once we have received Christ’s divine refreshment, our joy and hope will inspire us to share what we received, refreshing the hearts of others who are sweltering in their struggles.

Drink in the promises guaranteed in His word. Your soul will be refreshed as you encourage others with the same cool streams of living water that have kept you from melting in the heat of life’s problems.
