“Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
Colossians 3:1-4 NIV

I’ve noticed from the top of a 14-er or a climb, from the cloud heights in a plane, or from the top of a parking garage, that my mind alters. There is a clearness when looking from such great heights. It makes me feel small and reminds me of how big my God is.

This is a verse I could remind myself of often. A reminder to lift my eyes, my heart, and my mind to the God of the Universe. A reminder to look to heaven and to look to the coming of God’s Kingdom. It’s too easy to get bogged down with the chaos and mess of earthly things. But our perspective changes as we look around, when our hearts are fixed on heaven. It is not that we avoid the “earthly things,” but rather that we don’t get bogged down by them. We can look around at the physical things of this world with Kingdom “goggles.”

We know how the story ends. We know that Christ died and that He rose for our salvation.

And we are His vessels. Our lives are hidden with Christ. Christ shines and works through us. His desires should be our desires. Christ should be THE most important part of our lives. Christ is our life line, our Savior. He is the vine and we are the branches. It is His glory and power working through us, and we will be together with Him one day, in full glory and redemption.
