Danger Signs

“How can a young man keep his way pure?  By living according to Your Word.”
Psalm 119:9

In many places along the Oregon coast there are signs warning you to “Keep Back of Fence!”  Why are those signs there?  Because the government is a kill joy that doesn’t want you to see the really good stuff? No!  Because if you go beyond the fence, you might get swept away by the waves to your death.

The reason the signs are there is because other people have foolishly gone where they should not have gone and died.  And yet, when you look across the fence, you will see the footprints of people who have brazenly disobeyed the sign and foolishly risked their lives.

And so it is with God’s warnings.  The Lord has plainly told you and me in His Word how to follow His ways and heed His warnings.  He has set up “fences” and “signs” warning us of things dangerous to our body and soul.  And yet many people choose to ignore His Word and His warnings and foolishly thrust themselves into a place of eternal death.

Praise God that the Lord has not abandoned us to our own foolish, sinful fate!  He has sent His Son to rescue us from sin and death.  He sacrificed His own life to save ours.  He died that we might live.

Please listen to the Lord’s Word warning you of things that are dangerous to your life.  And if you are caught in the terrible riptide of sin and destruction, cry out to Jesus who can save you.  He will not ignore your pleas.  He loves you and wants to put you back in a safe place, a refuge secure with Him forever.

Thank you, Lord, for saving me through Jesus Christ.  And thank you for your Word that warns me of danger to my soul.  Amen.
