“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.“
Joshua 1:9 New International Version
I enjoy colorful things, so when the nurse came in wearing black scrubs and sporting a pair of colorful clogs, she had my attention. She said they were comfortable and she felt a little bit more spring in her step wearing them. They’re ideal for a person who spends hours on their feet, so she had several pairs and wore them as her mood suited her.
Bright colors can provide cheer to a cloudy day.
In my role as a personal trainer, I’ve learned that wearing the right shoes for an activity can make a big difference in my clients’ performance. Shoes with good ankle and arch support, as well as padding sufficient for the desired activity level, are important when exercising.
If the shoes come in a person’s favorite colors, there can also be a little attitude boost.
While these shoes work well in the medical profession, I couldn’t do my job adequately while wearing them at the gym. And a pair of strappy sandals wouldn’t work in either setting!
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”
1 Corinthians 12:4-6 New International Version
When God calls us for the task to increase his Kingdom, he gives us all the attributes needed for that task. Our life experiences, the classes we’ve taken throughout our lives, and the jobs we have held all play a role in shaping us to work for him.
The best news of all is that everyone is equipped to do something! Whether we’re equipped like sneakers, or sandals, or steel-toed shoes, we’re all formed by God to give him glory.
