Our transformation in Christ seems so far away sometimes.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Romans 12:2 New Living Translation
Sometimes, as we walk with Christ, we become painfully aware of how far we still have to go. We see places that need spiritual growth or emotional healing and wonder whether we will ever become who we should be. Responsibilities, expectations, stress, and uncertainty crowd our lives until discouragement whispers, “You will never get there.”
But perhaps we are asking the wrong question. Instead of asking, “Why am I not where I want to be?” we can ask, “Where does God want me today?” God is not impatiently waiting at the finish line. He walks with us, shaping us in love and leading us at the pace His wisdom allows.
Our part is not to force change but to willingly surrender to Jesus by leaning on Him, listening to His Word, and seeking His wisdom. Often, He changes us so quietly that we recognize His work only when we look back and see how far grace has carried us.
To hear Him, we need to quiet the noise of other people’s demands, the world’s expectations, and our anxious thoughts. God has not moved. When we turn our attention back to Him, His truth rises above every lie. We are deeply loved, never abandoned, and secure in His care.
Do not give up because you are not yet where you hope to be. A slow season does not mean God is inactive. Walk with Him one day at a time. Stay rooted in His Word and let Him renew your mind. The goal is not to arrive quickly but to be transformed by Jesus. He will provide what you need for today and keep preparing you for eternity.
