“In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?”
John 14:2 English Standard Version
My wife and I spent the Fourth of July walking around Manitou Springs, with a mutual friend. I had never been to the Miramont Castle, so we decided to explore it. I am fascinated with old architecture and castles. Glen Eyrie Castle, in Colorado Springs, is one of my favorite places of all time. It amazes me how there can be so many rooms in one house, and that each room is as beautiful and pristine as the last.
Then I think about the fact that someday I, and all my fellow followers of Christ, will inherit a residence that we cannot even fathom, and we will dwell there for eternity. Christ is preparing a place for us in the Father’s house! Not only will this place be unimaginably breathtaking, but we also get to dwell in paradise with the King of the Universe! How gracious and loving is our God to bestow on us such a gift as this.
There is work to be done here on earth yet. We must stay awake in our relationship with God, and be led by the Spirit to do His will on earth. Our lives here on earth, as followers of the One True God, are sure to be full of peaks and valleys. They will be anything but easy. Paul offers some words of encouragement.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
Romans 8:18 English Standard Version.
Let us keep our hearts, and our eyes, on the Triune God and the promise that we will one day be with Him in heaven. May we, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, respond to God’s promise to us by going out into the world and sharing Christ in thought, word, and deed with anyone our paths should cross.
