“I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.”
John 12:46
The sun is shining, on the Chalk Cliffs, in Mount Princeton, Colorado. These white cliffs are made of granite which changed colors, when they mixed with other minerals, resulting in their chalky appearance. When sunlight shines on them, they are visible for miles, in all directions, and stand in stark contrast to the otherwise wooded surrounding mountains. These cliffs can be seen from many vantage points in the area.
Once I was hiking in a forest unfamiliar to me near Aspen Ridge. I wasn’t exactly sure how far I had traveled when I came to an overlook. There they were, the Chalk Cliffs. I knew exactly where I was in relation to them. It was very reassuring to see the beautiful formations.
“For God, who said, ‘Let there be light in the darkness,’ has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.”
2 Corinthians 4:6
We were all lost once, but the Light of Christ rescued us from death’s shadows. He continues to light our way, whether we are following Him closely or feeling a little lost, in this dark world. He will forever flood our hearts with the light of His love and the brightness of His hope.
Christ also calls us to be His light to a world drowning in darkness. His light shines so brightly in our hearts that we can’t help but radiate His love and mercy to those around us.
Trust in His light. Let it enter your life. Allow Christ to shine through you and throughout your world. Someone you encounter needs to know Christ’s forgiveness, grace, and love. Be that light to them. They will never be lost again once Christ is their eternal light.
“I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.”
Ephesians 1:18
