“The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
2 Timothy 4:18 New International Version
The sun shone weakly through the fog at dawn, filtering into the dungeon where the Apostle Paul sat chained and under sentence of death. There was little comfort in the dim light and very little hope of any sort of rescue or deliverance. In that moment of potential despair, the glory of God shines through in Paul’s statement of faith, “The Lord will rescue me…” Whether that rescue would be release from prison or the rescue would be through death bringing Paul safely into the presence of Jesus, Paul will give God the glory and rejoice in Him.
Is this a morning when the sun shines weakly into your life and there seems to be little hope of earthly rescue for you? Is this a time when you are tempted to despair and feel hopeless? Do you believe there is no way out of your prison of pain or guilt or sickness or loneliness or despondency?
Turn to the Redeemer of your soul, the Deliverer of His people. The Lord who died for you and rose for you will not desert you in your time of need. Place your trust in Him. Although you cannot see how deliverance will come, call out to Him in faith and trust in His sure Word and promises.
“The Lord is my Light and my Salvation, of whom shall I be afraid!”
Psalm 27:1
Lord, I trust in You alone in all my circumstances. Deliver me in Your way that I might rejoice in you and your glory! Amen.
