Trusting in the One Who Holds the Universe

“Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime;
it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms.
He gives showers of rain to all people,
and plants of the field to everyone.”
Zechariah 10:1 NIV
How often I forget who is in charge. How often I let it slip who the Creator and Sustainer truly is. I get wrapped up in worry or need. When in times of drought, it can be easier to lift our hands in prayer. During the winter seasons we are reminded of our inadequacies and limitations. When we reach the point of doing all we humanly can do and still it falls short. When the road comes to an abrupt end and we no longer know which way to go. We ask the Lord. We are reminded of our needs that can only be met through the God of the universe.
Power alone belongs to the Father. He who can quiet the raging storms and calm the seas. He brings springtime and renewal. He opens the heavens for the rains to pour out and water the source of sustenance. The Lord our God is mighty. The Lord our God is our Provider.
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone—
while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?”
Job 38:4-7 NIV
God alone is sovereign. We may not always know the “why” during the droughts and winters and suffering we face. But we know the wisdom of our Savior. We know that we only see a sliver of time and a sliver of the whole picture. We were not present during Creation, as God laid the foundations of humanity. God is in complete control.
And through His sovereignty and wisdom and control, He has an everlasting love. As we face the “whys” and the storms and await for the springtime, we can trust in our Lord and Savior who created the heavens and who sent His Son to redeem us.

Yay, Jordy!
I like how you tied in the creation seen in OT with our redemption in Jesus
I appreciate your insight! Thank you, Cheryl!
