Do Not Forget What He Gives You

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy…”
Psalm 103:2-4 English Standard Version
Margaret’s knee hurt badly with the cartilage gone and pain in every step. Her replacement surgery was truly an answer to prayer and felt nearly miraculous in the healing and recovery afterwards. She will truly never forget God’s intervention in her life!
But sadly we often forget all that God has done for us. Our Father heals our diseases, rescues us from crises, and pours out His love and mercy upon us. The greatest healing that He does is through sending His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus, who died and rose to forgive our sins and give us eternal life. He has healed our brokenness and rebellion with God and continues to send us His Holy Spirit in every difficult place in our life.
But all of this we often forget. Once we have received His healing touch and His goodness we go back to our egocentric, selfish ways. We forget to praise Him, to thank Him, to give Him honor and glory.
What has the Lord done for you? Has He not given you all that you have even though you do not deserve His good gifts? Has He even given you His own Son while you were dead in your sin?
Today is the day to remember His healing for you of both body and soul. Thank Him and praise Him and recount to others His goodness and mercy and forgiveness and healing. Bless the Lord and forget not all His benefits to you! His mercy is from everlasting to everlasting! O bless the Lord, O my soul! I will not forget Your goodness to me! Amen.
