“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 English Standard Version

Like many across the country, we had a weekend of very cold weather. After sitting around in the house for quite a bit, my husband suggested we go on a snow walk, so we all bundled up and headed out. Someone suggested we walk to a bridge that’s fairly close to our house. But when we got to where the road ended and the trail to the bridge started, we couldn’t even see the path there was so much snow. We almost turned around and went back home, but my daughter really wanted to try to get to the bridge, so we kept going. And eventually we got there!

A big challenge I feel in life is the fact that we don’t know what comes next. Our future looks kind of like that snow-covered trail… which way should we go? Proverbs tells us to trust the Lord, to acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight. We were able to make it to the bridge because we had been there before, and we knew generally where the path lay. In life, the pathway is before us in the Word. As long as we study the Word, pray, and trust, we’ll make our way there. Even when the path seems covered, or when we stray from it, (as we discovered we had on the way back from our walk!) God will guide us in the way we are meant to go. We can praise Him for that!
