The Ride of Your Life

by Desiree Bustamante

God is with you on the roller coaster ride of life.

Remember your first roller coaster ride? Were you apprehensive? Terrified? Excited? A little of each?

When it was over, you definitely knew if you wanted to take that ride again. Either you couldn’t wait to get in line for another run or you were a little nauseous, or dizzy, and you wanted to find a bench where you could recover.

We often find ourselves on a roller coaster of sorts. An opportunity presents itself and we are excited. We know God has answered our prayers and we can’t wait. However somewhere along the way the ride gets a little bumpy, or there is a sharp curve, or steep hill, we must overcome. We might be excited for the challenge looming ahead, ambivalent about our original goals or beginning to doubt that this was from God in the first place.

God is never surprised at our reactions. He has seen His people trust Him, doubt Him, cry out to Him for help, get angry at Him, ignore Him, and betray Him. This has happened for centuries. Even Israel doubted God’s plan for their journey to the promised land, but God has been, and always will be, faithful and loving. It’s who He is. That is why He gave words of wisdom to His people through His prophets in Scripture. They are encouragement and guidance for us each day.

“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:8-9 New International Version

When you read God’s mighty word and trust His love for you throughout your journey, every ride will be the ride of your life.
