Never Go Hungry Again.

John 6:35 English Standard Version 

I grew up on a farm, where my family grew wheat, corn, alfalfa, and other crops. In this picture, you see three grain bins and the building where we would store trucks. I used to love riding in the tractor, or the combine, with my Dad. I’d watch all of the grain being harvested, where it was fed into the combine’s storage until we unloaded it into a grain cart. From there it was stored in the grain elevators.

Farming is hard work, and although I don’t know much about it firsthand, I see the work ethic instilled in my family. During harvest season, they’re up before the sun and don’t come in until the sun has long been down.

That’s the thing with farming, the work is never done. The grain elevators don’t stay full, especially when there’s a drought. The work of keeping the storehouses full is never done. If we stopped farming, we would go hungry.

Jesus says that whoever comes to Him won’t go hungry, or thirsty, ever. When it comes to our redemption, and eternal life, Christ has taken care of that work for us on the cross. There is no work that we can do, no matter how hard we work or how long we work. We cannot secure eternal life for ourselves, nor can we save ourselves. If it were up to us, we would be completely starved spiritually.

Luckily it is not up to us. God loved us so that He sent His only Son Jesus to die in our place on the cross, giving His body and blood for us, that we may never be starved, but rather eternally filled with the love of God.
