The promise of our inheritance.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 3-5 English Standard Version
Every Spring whispers, “Winter won’t last forever. New life is coming.”
Like the roaring of this river, swollen with the thawing snow, His Word roars a promise to us. The life that is to come – the one we inherit in the resurrected Christ, the one He gave us through His precious blood – is imperishable. It won’t be stolen from those who have died and risen with Him.
Does it feel like your winter will not end? You’re not promised it will this side of heaven. However, we can take joy in the fact that this winter will not ultimately last. We will wake to Spring in the Heavenly Kingdom when Christ comes. What a joyous hope we have, which can not be taken away even in the midst of great sorrow and the testing of our faith!
Take some time today to preach these words to your soul. Sit by the roaring Words of scripture, and let your living hope swell into the joy that cannot be washed away by trials as your faith is proven true as gold. Praise and glory to Christ!
