The other day I got great tickets to go and see a circus type show. I grabbed my seat and we were way up close, right next to the stage! I could see the place filling up and the sense of anticipation from the crowd. The image for today depicts an unbelievable moment.
The show was unbelievable! I didn’t know human bodies could do such amazing feats: There were tightrope walkers, there was an aerialist, a juggler, and then dozens of other people that flipped into the air only to land perfectly on someone else’s feet as they laid on their back. On their feet! On someone else’s feet. It was crazy.
I must admit, I was stressed for virtually the entire time. The chance of a fall was so great, yet they pulled off performances that lasted over an hour flawlessly. It’s been a few weeks and I am still in awe of what I witnessed. My wife said she almost enjoyed watching me more than the performers because I was so animated!
What about you? What is “unbelievable” in your life? The term “unbelievable” can go at least two ways: Good or bad! What I watched was unbelievably good, but when you look at life, you may also find unbelievably bad.
I encourage you to take time today and make up a list of the good things happening in life along with the bad. We should rejoice in the good! For that which is bad, perhaps seeing all the good can put things into a better perspective.
In Genesis 18, something unbelievable happened: Sarah and Abraham would have a child in their old age. In verses 13 & 14 we read,
“The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”
English Standard Version
The people of God often run into the unbelievable. Both good and bad. But I thank God that I know that I never have to go through that alone, and neither do you! The truth is that God gave His Son Jesus to die for you and to rise for you so that you may have eternal life. That may sound unbelievable, but it is 100% TRUE! I pray that you can thank God for that truth as you write out your list of “good and bad” knowing that He is always with you.
