WAITING ON DESTINY

Destiny is a strange thing. It’s what you know you are meant for but not sure when. Waiting is the most difficult part for me. Knowing great things are coming but the timing is in God’s hands.

“but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” Isaiah 30:18

But before we can wait on our destiny we have to know that God created us to do great things for His glory. If we are only doing great things to be seen or for our own satisfaction, our lives can become empty pretty fast. Burnout is a sign that we are working out of flesh not spirit. If we see that we have nothing left while we’re doing God’s work it may be time to get back into the place of receiving the living water of Jesus so we can be refreshed and renewed.

Once we realize that we are meant for amazing feats, because we carry the spirit of God in us, we can pursue our destiny with a sense of humbleness and humility. Keeping our eyes on Jesus and not our destiny is also a sign of maturity. If he gave us the dream, it would be cruel if we were never meant to reach the goal. At the same time, the Holy Spirit is our guide and we only do what the Father does.

“So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.” John 5:19

Wait on the Lord and only do what the Father does. Doing these things makes the waiting less painful and increases awareness of the greater purpose of the journey.
