Is there anything more difficult than waiting on the Lord? I’ve heard that Jesus is coming to my rescue, but the rescue hasn’t happened yet. The waiting can be excruciating.

The Bible is full of verses of waiting on the Lord.

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” Psalm 27:14 English Standard Version

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 English Standard Version

“The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.” Lamentations 3:25 English Standard Version

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14 New International Version

“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10 English Standard Version

“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;”
Psalm 130:5 English Standard Version

“Do not say, ‘I will repay evil’; wait for the Lord, and he will deliver you.”
Proverbs 20:22 English Standard Version

The hard part of waiting is knowing what to do in the meantime. I believe this is the time that we work on trusting God, being patient and knowing that Jesus is working on our behalf, and we focus on being filled up with the Holy Spirit so that when God moves the situation we are prepared.

If you find yourself in the waiting, press into God, don’t veer, stand strong that God’s word is for you and it will not fail. Jesus is moving mountains for us daily so we can give glory to God and others can taste and see that the Lord is so good.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Psalm 34:8 New International Version

How we wait on God could be the thing that the world needs to see from Christians. Being patient is not a virtue that is lost; it’s just not a favorite of most of the human race.
