This Trail Isn’t Closed!

It’s a good thing that this sign doesn’t appear before God’s heart when we go through the storms of life.

I discovered this new-to-me trail on the AllTrails app. I don’t know when the trail was built, whether it existed before I moved to Colorado or not, but I know it existed now.

There is nothing special about this trail, it doesn’t gain much in elevation, it’s and in and out trail, and it’s surrounded by homes. However, it’s quiet and a trail that I will hike again.  More than likely, a hiker will not find any other person on the trail for the full 3.8 miles of hiking.

There was one problem, the trail was closed at the halfway mark. There were no reviews that indicated this was a problem. We have experienced a series of storms in the Pikes Peak region and a number of places have recently received damage from serious hail and rain including this trail.

Being the obedient hiker, I turned around and returned to my car.

“Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”
Hebrews 10:19-22 English Standard Version

The way to God’s heart is always open because God made a way to us through the sacrifice of Jesus. God’s heart is open to you and me especially when we are in the midst of the storms. He begs us to come and to enjoy his mercy and grace. What a blessing to know that God’s heart is never closed no matter how bad the storms.
