Tie-Dyed

God is the creator of creativity.

This picture was taken after my daughter, Hazel, tie-dyed her white Converse shoes. We could have been scared she would mess them up but thought it was more important for her to create something, and possibly something beautiful.

She was so excited when she finished. There was such a sense of accomplishment.

What would we have done, though, if it didn’t turn out the way we envisioned? Obviously we would have been disappointed.

If it hadn’t turned out like she wanted, Hazel said she would have pulled her older sister in to salvage the project. She recognizes that Margaret has a gift for fixing problems.

How often do we turn to other people when we need help? Or do we try to fix it on our own so we can ‘save face’?

Even greater, how often do we try to fix it ourselves instead of crying out to God? Humbling ourselves before Him so He can save us.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you’”
Isaiah 43:2

When things get hard or don’t go the way we envision, He’s already provided a way out. We just surrender to Him and receive guidance from Holy Spirit .

“…and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze.”
Exodus 35:31-32

God is the not only the creator of the universe, He is the creator of creativity. All good things come from Him.

And, there is no failure in Heaven. We can all go out on a limb and try new things, not being scared about messing up. He will always catch us. He loves to be our Savior!
