For God so loved the world, that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV
I know the Christmas season is “over” as most of the world sees it. But you and I know, this is a lifelong, every day kind of celebration. Lately, I’ve been thinking more intently about that holy and divine night. So many pieces of the prophetic puzzle intersecting and culminating at the birth of our Savior. Our worth was redefined and reassigned in that moment he appeared. We were destined for destruction, incapable of measuring up and unable to save ourselves. The outlook was bleak. But God knew what was to come. He knew from the beginning that humanity was flawed and in dire need.
We often go about our days, consumed with the things we can see and understand. I know at one point or another we all associate our worth and value with our experiences on earth. Perhaps at times we fall into an unfortunate pattern of focusing on the things of the world, forgetting that we were made for more. Not only that, we were saved for more. What does that say about our worth? Everything. We want to feel and know that we are worthy. We long to be valued, needed and understood. Here’s the divine message we need to remember all year: He loved us with a love we can’t comprehend. He wanted us and valued us so much that He sent his son – a part of Himself – to earth in order to redeem and reconcile us to Himself. If that doesn’t stop you in your tracks and set your heart ablaze, I don’t know what will.
That holy night, God’s plan was in motion. His plan for you and for me is in motion, continuing to unfold. And let me tell you, it’s beyond anything we could ever hope or imagine. May we always trust His will in our lives and be reminded of our worth in Jesus.
