Time to Praise the Lord!

by Desiree Bustamante

Our God is amazing! Make time to praise Him.

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
    to sing praises to the Most High.
It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning,
    your faithfulness in the evening.”
Psalm 92:1-2 New Living Translation

“I will praise you every day;
    yes, I will praise you forever.
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
    No one can measure his greatness.”
Psalm 145:2-3 New Living Translation

When someone is kind or good toward you, you thank them. You might follow up with a note of gratitude and may honor them by telling others about that kindness. But will you remember that kindness in a month, or a year or a decade from now? Even if you do, will it hold the same value for you as when it happened?

There are hundreds of examples in Scripture of people praising God for His abundance to them. God created us, helps us thrive, comforts our hearts, heals us, redeemed us from sin and eternal death. He loves us. Every day!  Yet our focus on earthly life often crowds out our time to praise and honor Him. Today make a list of what God has done for you and why He deserves your praise. Then—

Praise the Lord! Praise Him for your life! Praise Him for your family, your friends, your community! Praise Him for the answered prayers you prayed in the darkest of times, and the answers to some. Praise Him for rescuing you from your sin and from Satan. Honor Him for His majesty, power, and wisdom! Give Him glory for everything He has done. Praise the Lord!

“Let all that I am praise the Lord;
    with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord;
    may I never forget the good things he does for me.”
Psalm 103:1-2 New Living Translation
