“You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.”
Psalm 139:3 New Living Translation
It’s July 1st, and many of us will be enjoying vacation time over the next couple of months. Time away from our ingrained routines and work is precious time. Our souls and bodies need to rest. We might feel we really shouldn’t take time to relax and rejuvenate, but God created the Sabbath Day with our need to rest in mind. Without rest we can get weary and overwhelmed which can lead us to burnout so we no longer are effective at doing His will. We need rest so we won’t become discouraged or hopeless.
Whether you plan to travel somewhere you’ve never been or to your favorite place, see family or friends, or hang out close to home, remember that God still sees you. He knows all about each day of your life and He cares about your well-being. He always goes with you and desires that you remember His love and faithfulness to you.
This summer, look for the goodness of God in your surroundings. Reflect on all that He has done for you in your life. Take time to worship and praise Him for saving you, giving you a purpose in His kingdom and just for loving you each day.
“King David said this about him:
‘I see that the Lord is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad,
and my tongue shouts his praises!
My body rests in hope.’”
Acts 2:25-27 New Living Translation
Rest in hope and have a blessed summer!
