Life doesn’t stay the same, but God does.

Have you ever found too much change in your pocket or purse? It can add needless weight to your handbag or jingle annoyingly in your pocket, becoming an unwelcome distraction. It’s easy to lose coins, too, as evidenced by how often you see pennies in a parking lot. And a pocket full of pennies is worth far less in today’s monetary value. In fact, producing one penny costs $1.56 each!
Maybe you are living with too much change in your life right now. It’s weighing you down. A reorganization at work, an unexpected health crisis, children having trouble with online school or continued unemployment. Maybe friends are moving away or there are changes at church, which was your comforting refuge from life’s hard times. It can be overwhelming and not seeing any value in the change makes it feel worthless, leading to hopelessness.
“But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them sing joyful praises forever.
Spread your protection over them,
that all who love your name may be filled with joy.”
Psalm 5:11 New Living Translation
When God encourages you to hold on to Him, it is so you have a safe place of refuge and reassurance of His love for you. God will always be there for you in times of discouragement, fear of the future, grief and unwanted change. God never changes and He never will. You can hold on to that promise with each wave of change and trust that He will always bring blessing in all circumstances. He is drawing you closer to Him through each distress because you are worth far more to Him than any amount of change.
