Trouble and Glory

I don’t know about you, but I experience trouble everyday. I need help!

“…and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”
Psalm 50:15

Assistance is always available from God above in the form of peace, comfort, wisdom, and more. God only asks that we give Him the glory after he helps us.

People who don’t know God yet ask, “Why does God need the glory?” He doesn’t need it, He just knows it’s better if He takes the credit than if we do. If we glorify God when He helps us, then things such as pride, selfish ambition, and arrogance can’t attach to us.

As an overcomer of selfish ambition and performance, this is freedom! I didn’t know how much bondage was attached to my ‘show’ in and out of the Christian circle. I told myself the things I was doing and wanted to do were for God, but the truth is I wanted to be seen. If I was recognized then the world would see me as valuable.

“For Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory Forever and Ever.”

We cast a spotlight on the glory of the King so we can remain as a vessel, something only God can fill. If God is getting all the glory it allows us to co-labor with Him on earth without the pressure of striving and performance.

1 Corinthians 3:9 says “For we are God’s fellow workers.” We work with God to bring something better to earth. As Christians, we are already residents of heaven, so shouldn’t we want to bring heaven to earth as much as possible? If we are going to spend eternity praising God, why wouldn’t we want to start now?

“…day after day and night after night they keep on saying, ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty— the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.’”
Revelation 4:8

Some may think that sounds like the most boring thing in the world, but as we grow closer to God it becomes the most natural and joyous occasion. It’s what we’re made to do.
