Life is messy when God transforms our lives.

I don’t know what this building will house when it’s completed. I don’t know if it’s owned by a bank, insurance company, or some other business. However, I do know that it’s an inconvenience for people who drive downtown Colorado Springs. It has forced the closure of one west bound lane not to mention the closure of a sidewalk.
Construction work is messy.
Our lives are under construction. Eons ago, when I was in college, I learned the acronym, PBPWMGIFWMY. That’s, “Please Be Patient With Me. God Isn’t Finished With Me Yet.” God has done a wonderful work in my life since I heard this phrase, but he still isn’t finished with me. I’m still under construction, and that construction work is messy.
The writer to the Hebrews knew that God wasn’t finished with his readers yet. He wrote,
“Now may the God of peace–who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood–may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.”
Hebrews 13:20 New Living Translation
I watched the crane slowly lift this sheet-rock into the early evening sky, and then lower it into the building. The work of transformation was taking place. The building was taking shape.
In the mess of construction God is slowly working in you, equipping you with all that you need to do what he has called you to do. In the work of transformation God receives the praise, honor, and glory.
Your life will be made perfect, not here, but on that day when you appear before the Master Builder. May God fill you with patience, joy, and anticipation as you become what he is making you to be, even if it’s messy work.
