“You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God:
Your towns and your fields
will be blessed.
Your children and your crops
will be blessed.
The offspring of your herds and flocks
will be blessed.
Your fruit baskets and breadboards
will be blessed.
Wherever you go and whatever you do,
you will be blessed.”
Deuteronomy 28:2-6 New Living Translation
When I came around a corner and saw this painted bathtub planted with colorful flowers, it felt like a special, unexpected little blessing from God.
I think we often are surprised when God blesses us in big and small ways, but we shouldn’t be. God has been in the business of blessing His children who love Him since the beginning of time. Yet we are at times astonished that He answers our prayers so specifically and unexpectedly, as though when we prayed we really didn’t expect to receive His best for us. And when he sends unexpected blessings our way without our asking Him, it delights us and tells us about God’s inherent joy in giving us good things in our lives.
When you find yourself in awe of an unexpected blessing that God has unconditionally blessed you with, praise Him for His goodness. Make a list of all that He blesses you with so you will always know His love and mercy, and that He is a powerful and awesome God. Then share those blessings with others who may have never known so great a love as our Heavenly Father gives us every day.
