Nothing is too ordinary for God to use for His purpose.
“The Lord has made everything for his own purposes.”
Proverbs 16:4 New Living Translation
Throughout Scripture, God often uses ordinary and unexpected things to complete his purpose. Even cows appear in surprising moments of His unfolding plan, aside from being a source of food and sacrifice for sin. In Pharaoh’s dream, seven healthy cows and seven thin cows warned of years of abundance followed by famine, allowing Joseph to prepare and preserve many lives. Later, two milk cows carried the ark of the covenant back toward Israel after it had been captured. The prophets also used cows eating with predator animals to portray the harmony of God’s coming kingdom.
These accounts remind us that nothing is too ordinary for God’s purposes. A simple animal could become part of a warning, a provision, a homecoming, or a picture of peace. If God weaves even the most common cow that He created into His story, how much more will He use His dearly loved children to accomplish His will.
Sometimes we may wonder whether our role matters. We may feel unnoticed, unprepared, or unsure of what God is doing. Yet our worth is not measured by the visibility of our work. As God’s beloved children, He has given each of us purpose, and He can use us in ways we may never fully see.
When you are uncertain about your place in the world, remember that God sees you, loves you, and has chosen you to reflect Him to a broken world. Your life is part of a story larger than you can see. Trust Him with your purpose.
