Wait Quietly Before the Lord

by Desiree Bustamante

We discover God’s hope and peace as we wait quietly in His presence.

“They plan to topple me from my high position.
They delight in telling lies about me.
They praise me to my face
but curse me in their hearts.
Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him.”

Psalm 62:4-5 New Living Translation

We have all been in situations in which we have no control and cannot fix or change. We cry out to God, we complain, we rationalize our position, we may even tell God that our solution should be His answer to our prayers.

When we can’t solve anything and there seems to be little hope, it’s time to approach God in quiet trust.

Why should we be quiet? It’s human nature to approach God with complaints and tirades but, in our angst, we are not leaving space for God to come near to us with His peace for our hearts. When our souls are stirred up with anger, fear or hopelessness, we can’t focus on the One who has everything under control and is faithful to walk with us through anything we face. When we are quiet and resting in God, nothing can shake us.

Our minds and hearts can be calm and still when we raise a wall in our mind against constant swirling, negative thoughts and only let in God’s words and promises. Remember all the times He has provided for you. This will give you courage to trust God even when His answers are unexpected.

Peace and rest for our souls are never found in this world. God is the only source. His perfect plan has already been established in every situation we encounter in our lives. He will never abandon us.

He alone is where calm, quiet and peace can be found.
