God sets up boundary lines that are not meant to hinder us but keep us safe from our own destructive thoughts.

“Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”
Psalm 16:5-8 New International Version
In our city, summer is road construction season. Multiple areas of town have road or lane closures as workers repair damaged roads, and for the safety of drivers and workers until construction is completed.
We often need a “Road Closed” sign in our lives. We let our thoughts wander down roads that are not healthy. Destructive thoughts invade our peace and our purpose. The evil one plots to lead us off God’s path into the potholes of devastation.
Warning signs may be frustrating to us since we want to travel unhindered in the direction we want to take, instead of walking with God on the road He has determined for us to travel. We need to recognize that these signs are healthy boundary lines that keep unhealthy thoughts from intruding and creating temptation, despair or hopelessness. Being aware of these signs keeps your entire being safe and focused on Him.
Don’t be discouraged when God establishes a roadblock that slows you down or detours your plans. He loves you and wants to steer you back on the right track that He desires for you, closing all roads to those harmful thoughts that keep you from experiencing the joy of walking with Christ each day. Don’t waver from His path. Watch for His signs of perfect direction for your life.
