“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
2 Peter 1:3 NIV
Lately, I have been working on contentment. This is something I can lack often. I begin to grumble and complain as things don’t go my way, or the way I had expected them to. And then I am reminded of the Israelites in the desert. When I read their story, I think they sound ridiculous after all that God has done. But then I realize I am far too often the same.
God has given us everything we need. There is nothing we lack. We are fully equipped to live the life God has set before us. He has given us the tools and the opportunities to live a life worthy of our calling – a life that glorifies Him. No matter our circumstances, God is with us. He is our good Shepherd, we lack nothing.
“For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.”
2 Timothy 1:9 NLT
It is through His grace that we are saved, and because we are saved, we are called to live a life that reflects the Gospel. God has done wonders in our lives and has a purpose for our lives. In all that we do, we were created to glorify and praise our Heavenly Father. God is forever with us, leading us to a life with Him eternally.
In Him, we will have all that we will ever need. We will continue to do wonders in our lives for His glory. His plans are in His timing. Whether we are waiting in a desert or walking through a parted sea, He is faithful. Whether we are uncertain of our next step or in the midst of a leap of faith, He is good. Whether we are discouraged or disheartened or our faith feels shaking, He is present. There is nothing we lack, with our Good Shepherd on our side.
