Is It Worth It?
“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8, English Standard Version
I’ve found that one of the hardest things about being a parent (so far) is when your kids are sick. It’s so stressful because they’re not acting themselves, they need extra care, sometimes it’s messy and gross, and it disrupts your schedule. Worse than that though is not knowing exactly what you should do, and not being able to take their pain away from them.
Two of my three kids were just sick at once (I’ve yet for all three of them to be down, though I’m sure it’ll come) and it’s just downright hard. When you’re in the trenches it’s easy to forget how wonderful being a parent is, and even ask yourself the question “what did I sign up for?” Cleaning up vomit and runny noses is definitely not what you dream of when you picture having a child.
But is it worth it? 100%. When I look at these two beautiful boys in this picture (who happen to be the ones who were sick) I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
And even more beautiful is that God said that we’re worth it too. When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, was He asking “what did I sign up for?” Maybe, but He did it anyway. We are SO LOVED that Christ died for us.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
John 3:6-17, ESV
Today remember that you are loved, and that God sent His Son because He thought YOU were worth it.
