…and That Has Made All the Difference.”

The great Yogi Berra said, “When you come to the fork in the road, take it.” Though it appears humorous, he was describing how to get to his house. Either road led to his home, just take one.
Contrast Yogi’s advice to Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken, where he states that where two paths diverged, he took the path that was less traveled and that choice made all the difference.
Multiple choices on the direction of our lives confront us. With Frost, we contemplate the impact these choices will have on us, not all of which are positive.
We Christians add an extra burden by asking the question, “Which path does God want me to take?” as if God will give us an audible answer to our question, making the choice easier.
The central figure in this picture is the rock formation in the middle. Both paths lead to the rock, but a person would not know it unless they walk both.
“…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith…”
Hebrews 12:1-2 English Standard Version
Maybe we ought to be concerned more about how we walk on the paths we have chosen rather than which is the best. Each path will have its joys and struggles. Each will create new opportunities and close other doors. And that’s okay. It’s the nature of choices. However, standing in the middle of our choices is Jesus. He will always be there. Through his death and resurrection, he assures us that no matter what path we travel, he will walk with us.
Sometimes there are clear answers to the path we ought to take and other times it’s like looking into the Mississippi River in flood season. Be a peace. Christ is with you, and that makes all the difference.
