“In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also..”
Psalm 95:2 New Revised Standard Version
A Prayer for Today

As surely as the sun begins to kiss the mountains, O Lord, your light illumines my soul. As surely as the darkness scatters from your creation, the Light of your Christ chases the darkness from my eyes, my soul. You are the creator of the depths and of all mountain heights. So majestic, your creation. A small reflection, if breathtaking, of your own Majesty. Who am I to deserve your notice? How is it that you see me? I am filled with wonder that your eye should detect me in the universe. I am filled with awe at your beauty reflected in the mountains. I am filled with gratitude that you are my Lord, that you promise to be with me always. The mountains shall erode away, but you will still be by my side.
As you ride the rays of sunlight, so come to me in the Light of your Christ. I long to bask in the warmth of your love. Even as summer gives way to autumn and the day’s light shortens, your Light will always bless me, never lessening, never departing. I may close my eyes in sleep, but you do not slumber. Your lullaby of love in Jesus sings me to sleep. Your melody of delight calls me into a new day. May I never cease to stand in awe of you. May I always be filled with a song of glory and wonder that you are my God.
You are mountain strong. As am I in your Blessing. Amen.
