“All of your works will thank you, Lord,
and your faithful followers will praise you.
They will speak of the glory of your kingdom;
they will give examples of your power.
They will tell about your mighty deeds
and about the majesty and glory of your reign.”
Psalm 145:10-12 New Living Translation
For me, nothing displays the mighty power and glorious kingdom like the majesty of a mountain. In his psalms, David often referred to the mountains as God’s dwelling place. He felt God’s power and might in all that God made.
But God is even mightier than His creation! He reigns as the King in heaven and over the entire earth. He is ruler over all people and nations. As the Lord’s people, we also praise God for His mighty power shown us through everything He has done throughout the many generations of the earth. Scripture abounds with examples of His majesty and authority. You can’t escape God’s supremacy or His monumental love. He is the Almighty, beyond our comprehension. We must never underestimate the magnitude of our God!
We who love the King eagerly yearn for His kingdom to come. When we pray, “Your kingdom come” there is a real sense of longing and loyalty. This is also convicting, because we can’t pray those words while promoting our own personal kingdom. Instead we anticipate God’s coming kingdom, on board with God’s agenda and our love for the King himself. We set our hearts for His kingdom to come in the world around us and in us.
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
