“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12 English Standard Version
Whenever I fly, I love having the window seat. Usually I fly to the same place every time so looking out the window I typically get the same view, but I just can’t get over it. It is amazing to see all of the open space, the fields, and the buildings from 35,000 plus feet high. I grew up on the plains, so a lot of people visiting would often say that you could see to the ends of the earth, but the view out of the plane window is much more spectacular.
I don’t know about you, but I can be in my own head a LOT! Sometimes when I am in that mode, I pay close attention to everything and am aware of all the little things that I am doing wrong, seeing all of my shortcomings and inadequacies. I so badly want to do the will of God that it can really knock me down if I get caught off guard. While it is good to be aware of those things, if you let it dig too deep you are letting the lies of Satan seep into the cracks of your life instead of filling those cracks with God’s forgiveness, grace, and love.
Abiding with Christ means that whenever we sin we always have forgiveness in God, when we come to him in repentance. This of course is not a license to do as we please. We do have the assurance, however, that sin cannot hold us back any longer. Christ has set us free and taken our sin upon himself that we may live life fearlessly in the abundance of his great mercy and love. We are told in Psalm 103 that God has so far removed our sin from us that it can hinder us no longer. We belong to God, do not let the devil’s lies deceive you. Be joyful in the abundant life that Christ has gifted to us! Amen.
