“You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.”
Psalm 139:3 English Standard Version

Barb’s grandmother liked to collect ornamental wall plates of the places where she traveled.  These are just some of those plates that Barb has on her wall from her grandmother’s journeys.  It makes Barb think of her grandma and her journey of life.

The Psalmist proclaims that the Lord searches out our paths and knows where we have stayed and is acquainted with all of our ways.  God knows where we have been, where we are now, and where we are going.  You and I are on God’s mind all the time, He knows when you get up and when you lay down, when you are at home and when you travel about.  He knows your troubles and your good times, your joys and your sorrows.

And the Lord not only knows who you are and what you do and how you feel and what you are thinking, but He cares about all of it.  He cares and loves you better than a mother loves her child, better than a husband loves his wife.  For the Lord has your very best in mind for you all the time.  He answers your requests with the very best gifts that can be given. He gives you exactly what you need in this life.

Perhaps that is hard for you to believe, that anyone, including God, really cares that much about you.  So often others do not care for us well at all and you may wonder if God cares about you.  But when we look at God’s love for us in giving His Son to die for us on the cross, we can begin to see that God is not like selfish humans, but that He is a God who knows and loves us in the most amazing and outrageous ways.  The Lord knows you and loves you, forgiving you and giving you grace for Jesus sake.

Praise God that He knows you and loves you!  Amen!
