“I would not forget you!
See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.”
Isaiah 49:15-16 New Living Translation
My husband and a couple of his artist friends recently did some chalk drawings on the sidewalk of a retirement community. The drawings received a lot of smiles and compliments from people passing by. While many enjoyed them, these drawings were never meant to last. They were eventually worn or washed away.
No matter how many times the Israelite people turned their back on God, He never forgot them. He assured them that their names were written on the palms of His hands, pointing to the future marks on Jesus’ palms. Those marks were visible to the disciples and others who saw Him after His resurrection as a reminder that, long after the blood of our sin was washed away, our names will never be washed away. Jesus will always remember you and longs for the day you will join Him in His heavenly kingdom. Christ’s love for you is written on the palms of His hands.
