“I’m asking God to give you a gift from the wealth of his glory. I pray that he would give you inner strength and power through his Spirit. Then Christ will live in you through faith. I also pray that love may be the ground into which you sink your roots and on which you have your foundation.”
Ephesians 3:16-18 GOD’S WORD Translation
When we are deeply rooted in Christ, our love will illuminate the paths we travel, and everyone will see God through us. Our roots will be so strong that we will be able to stand firm as this world decays, and we will be able to hold each other up as we spread love throughout the world.
Yet life can be hard, and when there is heartache, it feels like our roots are damaged by the erosion of pain and negativity, and we are in danger of withering. But they still hold us up, because the one who created us deepens our root structure through His life-giving word and presence. Our roots grow stronger the more we cling to Christ, who daily provides us with His living water so we can keep growing deeper in Him. Then He will live in us, and we will be His branches that reach out, sharing His gospel and ministering to others with the shade of Christ’s comfort.
To those who don’t believe, our roots may be an annoyance as we cross paths, but we pray that the Holy Spirit will show them Christ and they will desire strong roots of faith.
This world needs the love of Christ. Spread His love to all as you trust God to deepen your roots of faith and create a foundation of love that will last forever.
