And the people of Israel also wept again and said, “Oh that we had meat to eat!We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic. But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.” Numbers 11:4b-6 ESV
My son was mowing our lawn this weekend and came inside, exasperated. The bag which catches the clippings cannot stay closed, our lawn is as dry as straw, and the many tiny clippings stung his legs as they were blown out of the bag.
He’d tried jury rigging a couple of solutions, but the clippings could not be contained.
I looked online to see if I could buy a replacement bag, but the mower is over 20 years old and the bag was discontinued.
Then I wondered if zip ties might work. Zip ties are plastic strips designed to be threaded through its end and tightened to keep an item fastened. Their ratcheting teeth makes them a single use solution. Once they’re not needed, they are cut and discarded.
I threaded two zip ties through the bag, and the cover was loosely held shut. My son thought we’d need more zip ties, and that they should be pulled tighter. However, we started with two, and it worked! He had to cut and replace the ties when he emptied the bag each time, but we have an inexpensive solution while we look for a new bag.
Do you ever feel as if you’re being stung by a thousand blades of grass, and you can’t deflect them?
When you ask God for help, he may hold your adversaries at bay with a couple of zip ties. You may think you need more, and you may ask for more, but sometimes adversity is a growing process.
God will provide you with just what you need to weather your storm. The most important thing he provides is himself. He is always at your side, walking with you, and giving you the strength you need. Just when it seems you’re out of resources, that is when he carries you.
Walk with God. Talk with God. He is always there for you.
