“But whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again. But the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water[satisfying his thirst for God] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within him] to eternal life.
John 4:14

Water is imperative for life. We can’t live long without it. It is such a normal part of life that most Americans probably don’t think much about the water that comes out of of tap. Were it to stop running, however, we would realize how much we rely on it.

Water is necessary for crops to grow, and for animals to survive. We cook, and clean with it.

What happens when a living thing doesn’t have access to water? It dies.

In John’s gospel, Jesus says that He is the living water. When we drink from Him, we will never thirst again. It doesn’t mean we will escape suffering on earth, or that we won’t have challenges. It means we know where to go to get refreshed, to find peace above all circumstances.

God created life. Life begins with water in the womb. A baby swims in a mother’s amniotic fluid for nine months.

Water makes up about 66 percent of the human body. Our whole life in the natural realm is surrounded with water. Our bodies are made up of the liquid, and we need it to survive. God connected something that we know we need to survive, water, with His Son the Living Water. When we know what water does for us, it’s easier to make the correlation to what Jesus does for us.

God is constantly attempting to connect with us. He wants us to know what we mean to Him, and how much we are loved. Jesus is bread, and water, to our souls. His concern, and love, for us is vital to our lives.
