[Jesus said] “Here I am!  I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
Revelation 3:20 New International Version

Stone benches in January look cold and uninviting, even with a bit of sun shining.  Have you ever experienced a cold, uninviting reception when you came to someone’s door?  Perhaps you were looking for some warmth and a friendly greeting, only to be met with icy coldness.

In the verse above, Jesus encourages those who have turned cold toward Him to invite Him back into their lives, their hearts, their home.  “Here I am!  I stand at the door and knock…”

Is Jesus knocking at the door of your heart right now?  Is He asking for you to open the door to His request to come back into your life?  Are there cold, bitter, shameful thoughts that need to be confessed to Him?  Do you need to humble yourself and let the Friend of Sinners back into your life?

Wherever you have strayed away, wherever you have pushed Him away, wherever you have walled yourself off from Him, open the door, repent, and confess your sins.  Invite His cleansing, His forgiveness, His healing into your life.

Jesus assures you, “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”  Jesus, the Friend of Sinners, is eager to come in and bring His warmth and love and tenderness to your home, your heart.  He is not ashamed of you, He wants to be with you and be your Savior and Lord.

Lord Jesus, please forgive me for pushing You away.  Please come into my heart and bring Your healing and forgiveness into my life.  I confess my sin and my need for you.  Amen.
