God’s Word is the ultimate love letter to us.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.”
Jeremiah 31:3b English Standard Version
There is an old, tattered note in my desk. My mother copied a poem that summarized our relationship well. It’s also the only handwritten note I have from her, since she died when I was young. From time to time, I take that note and re-read it, and it warms my heart to remember how much my mother loved me during our turbulent, passionate time together.
With social media and digital messaging becoming the norm for communication, taking the time to commit one’s feelings to paper seems superfluous. A hashtag “thank you” or “thinking of you” seems preferred, and it’s even socially acceptable in light of a busy lifestyle.
How would God have communicated his love for us if he’d begun writing in the 21st century?
In his perfect time, he purposed special people to write his Word in a tangible form. From oral tradition, to parchment scrolls, to moveable typesets and, today, on a device as small as our phone, we can read his love letters at any time, and share them with others.
God loves you so much; in fact, he’s crazy about you, and he wants to have an active relationship with you! His perfect love is spelled out in his Word, the Bible. In page after page, he speaks of his love, and teaches us how to love those around us. It’s the ultimate love letter.
“God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 English Standard Version
His love is also demonstrated in his Word made flesh, Jesus Christ.
Jesus, fully God and fully man, loves us so much, and his death and resurrection brings healing and reconciliation back to our torn, messed-up, sinful lives.
During Lent, take a few minutes each day to read the love letter God wrote for you. Ask God to put someone on your heart, who may be blessed with a short note of affirmation from you, and write to them.

Thank you dear friend for this perfect post. We truly must be ambassadors for sharing the truth of Christ in this day of untruth. His love shines bright in the darkness. So much apathy or false truth is being spread or believed about our Savior and who he is in this world.
