For our July 4th BBQ, I made fruit pizza. Fruit is layered on top of a cream cheese filling spread over a homemade soft cookie crust. I enjoyed creating special patterns with the fruit pieces when I used to make it for special occasions back in the ’80s and ’90s. There was no social media for the recipe to go viral, so many people have never eaten the dessert or heard of it until I explained what ingredients it contained.

“By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care.

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid,

which is Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:10-11 New International Version

When we first hear something new in God’s word and learn His promises, we absorb them into our mind and hearts, cherishing the newfound truth. As we grow in Christ, it’s natural to move on to other lessons God has for us, but sometimes it’s valuable to revisit some of those foundational teachings that taught us who God really is. It’s important to remember those so that we don’t find ourselves mixing His truth with the countless world views of spirituality.

God’s genuine word and the truth it holds provide new perspectives on God’s love and promises. Just as sharing a tried-and-true recipe is special, sharing the joy you feel at what God has revealed to you can encourage others in their faith, leading them to seek out His word for themselves. So don’t keep the recipe or the ingredients for a deeper relationship with Christ a secret. Share the delicious morsels of wisdom, peace, and hope with others who are hungry to know Him. And stay strong in the foundation of Christ’s enduring truth.
