An Amazing Thing!

2 Corinthians 9:15

Oh, the amazing joy and miracle of a newborn baby!  And especially when it’s your long awaited new granddaughter!  Iris is a wonderful gift to her parents and family and friends.  Iris is an amazing gift from God!

Iris is a gift to us because we did nothing to earn her or deserve her.  She has given us unexpected joy and happiness and she is worth more than any amount of money and it is almost impossible to express just why she is so wonderful!

So it is with God’s gift of love in our Lord Jesus Christ.  We did nothing to earn or deserve that Gift.  He gives us constant unexpected joy and happiness which no amount of money could ever bring.  And even though the Bible expresses itself over and over about this gracious gift of Jesus, no words can really express how wonderful He is!

God’s grace, His precious free Gift, has taken me from death to life, from mourning to rejoicing, from darkness to Light.  This grace, this Gift, is what we will praise God for forever and ever in heaven!  As John Newton writes:

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now I’m found,
Was blind, but now I see!

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise,
Than when we’d first begun!

We praise you, God, for your indescribable Gift!  Amen!
