Black and White in a Sea of Gray

I feel like I’m swimming in a world of gray. There are many questions I’m facing that have various answers. What will the world look like post pandemic? Will there be a post pandemic? What will the future hold for our nation now that we have a new president? There are answers, but what are they?

I feel like I’m swimming in a world of gray as these questions swirl in my mind.

The beauty of God’s grace is that it’s his way of dwelling with us in our sea of gray. Make no mistake about it, God is black and white. He is truth. However, the gray of our world exists because of our broken relationship with God. It’s hard for us sinners to figure out what’s right and wrong even when God’s word clearly states what’s right and wrong.

God entered our gray world through the mercy of the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
Hebrews 4:15 English Standard Version

Jesus is our high priest. He understands what it means to be tempted and to struggle. He struggled with temptation as he fasted for forty days and nights in the wilderness. He struggled with wanting a way out of his suffering when he sweat blood in the garden. He faced our world of gray, yet without sinning. In Jesus, black and white interacted with the grayness of our sin. As you struggle with a world filled with gray, may you hear Jesus’ last words to his disciples as though they are meant for you;

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20b New International Version

Jesus will always be with you in your world of gray. You can count on it!
